Seeing & Hearing
No “Waiting List” To Hear God
Unlike concerts by some music superstars, there is no waiting list to hear what God wants to tell us. Everyone is invited to God’s concert. TODAY! And the tickets are free! Jesus already bought our tickets by shedding his blood on the Cross. We should hurry to get our free tickets as soon as possible. Don’t let this incredible opportunity slip away. Today is the day of salvation! (Isaiah 49:8; 2 Corinthians 6:2).
On the news, I learned that an online provider of tickets has once again placed many people on a waiting list for tickets to concerts by a music superstar.
Fans are unhappy. And justifiably so.
I thought, “How lucky we are that there isn’t a waiting list to hear what God wants to tell us!”.
God advertises his “concert” by inviting all of us to come to hear and see him, to turn to the LORD to be healed (Isaiah 6:9-10; Matthew 13:13-17; Acts 28:25-29).
To advertise his concert God says:
“Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters”. (Isaiah 55:1).
Furthermore, the price is right. Our tickets are free!
The cost of each ticket is infinitely high. But Jesus paid this infinite cost for us by shedding his blood on the Cross. Now, Jesus offers to give us our ticket. All we need to do is go online and ask Jesus for it.
To encourage attendance at his “concert”, God says
“[Y]ou who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
(Isaiah 55:1).
Can you imagine how long the waiting list would be for fans of a music superstar if the tickets cost nothing? Especially because God is inviting “persons from every tribe and language and people and nation”. (Revelation 5:9; Revelation 7:9; Isaiah 2:1-4; 60:3; Isaiah 66:18,22-23).
No wonder God says:
“[M]y thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways”,
declares the LORD.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
(Isaiah 55:8).
We should hurry to get our free tickets as soon as possible. Don’t let this incredible opportunity slip away. TODAY is the day of salvation! (Isaiah 49:8; 2 Corinthians 6:2).
As the Prophet Isaiah says:
Seek the LORD while he may be found;
call on him while he is near.
Let the wicked forsake their ways
and the unrighteous their thoughts.
Let them turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on them
and to our God, for he will freely pardon.
(Isaiah 55:6-7).
No wonder Isaiah compares this “concert” by God to mountains and hills singing, and to trees clapping their hands.
We can join this concert today! Because TODAY is the day of salvation.
In this concert, we sing with our spirit and with our understanding. We pray with our spirit and with our understanding. (1 Corinthians 14:15).
At this concert, we do not conform our “singing” and “dancing” to the pattern of this world (Romans 12:2): “sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like” (Galatians 5:19-21).
No one who “sings” or “dances” these ways is allowed to attend God’s concert. (Galatians 5:22).
Instead, anyone attending this concert must sing and dance with true and proper worship in Spirit and in Truth, being transformed by the renewing of their mind so that their singing and dancing produce the fruit of the Spirit of the LORD: love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23).
Isaiah tells us that if we come to hear, see and understand the Word of the LORD, we will not be disappointed by the concert. Furthermore, we will be healed! (Isaiah 6:9-10).
God himself promises:
“[M]y word that goes out from my mouth . . . will not return to me empty.
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
You will go out in joy
and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and hills
will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field
will clap their hands.
(Isaiah 55:11-12).
No one will ever forget this concert!
Because this concert:
will be for the LORD’s renown,
for an everlasting sign
that will endure forever.”
(Isaiah 55:13).
No wonder there’ll be standing ovations after standing ovations, encores after encores, so that this concert never ends!
In the book of Revelation, John foresaw this everlasting concert at a stadium that “looked like a sea of glass glowing with fire”. (Revelation 15:2).
“Those who had been victorious [over Evil] . . . held harps given them by God and sang the song of God’s servant Moses and of [Jesus]:
“Great and marvelous are your deeds,
Lord God Almighty.
Just and true are your ways,
King of the nations.
Who will not fear you, Lord,
and bring glory to your name?
For you alone are holy.
All nations will come
and worship before you,
for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
(Revelation 15:2-4).
QUESTIONS TO THINK ABOUT
Why isn’t there a waiting list to hear what God is telling us?
