God Bless America: Bad Bunny and Me

The name “America” includes many more nations than the name “United States” and many more people than those who speak English.

If you’ve seen the Super Bowl Halftime Show by Bad Bunny, you’ve seen the memorable moment when he expanded people’s vision of America. He said the names of the nations in the entire Western Hemisphere—not just the name “United States”.

This was a moment that some people realized that the name “America” includes many more nations than the name “United States”. And includes many more people than those who speak English.

Some people found this realization disturbing. Others found it inspirational and uplifting.

I thought of my vision of America. I also want people to include many more nations and peoples as “America” than just the United States and its citizens. As I set forth in my book Visions of America, I include many more nations and peoples as America than the United States and those that speak English.

My vision of America, aligns with the vision of America first discovered by the hearts of Abraham, Moses and Jesus. In this ideal America,

ALL people are blessed (Abraham; Genesis 12:3);

ALL pharaohs will be challenged to set ALL people free (Moses; Exodus  8:1);

ALL hurting people are healed (Luke 10:25-37); and

ALL means ALL (Luke 10:25-37; Luke 2:13-14).

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT

Who do you think discovered America? When? How?

Do you want all people to be blessed? When? How? Why?

Do you want all pharaohs to set all people free? When? How? Why?

In what ways are you a pharaoh who should set all people free? When? How? Why?

Do you want all hurting people to be healed? When? How? Why?

In what ways are you a hurting person who needs to be healed?

In what ways do you heal hurting people who need to be healed? When? How? Why?
