Neelix Makes Bad Choices
On the Cross, God bought the most expensive “cat food” imaginable. It cost the life of Jesus! We must live in the Way of Jesus that grows the fruit of the Spirit of the LORD: love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. These fruit of the Spirit of the LORD are the expensive, healthy foods that God prescribes to heal us and our civilization.
Our cat, Neelix, loves to make bad choices.
He is overweight. His kidneys are bad.
The vet prescribed expensive cat food to ease the strain on his kidneys and help him lose weight. This special cat food is expensive.
Neelix hates the expensive cat food that is good for him. He sneaks around at night gobbling the cheap cat food that is bad for him.
Unfortunately, many of us are much like Neelix.
On the Cross, God bought the most expensive “cat food” imaginable. It cost the life of Jesus!
Yet, many of us refuse to eat this Amazing Grace that Jesus bought for us with his own blood and that God offers to give us for free.
We refuse to eat the words of Jesus. (John 6:25-35). We refuse to drink the water of the Spirit that Jesus offers us (John 4:10-14; 6:35; 7:37-39). We refuse to remember what Jesus did for us on the Cross. (1 Corinthians 11:23-26).
Instead, we sneak around eating evils. (Ephesians 5:11-12).
We indulge and gratify “sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft, hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like” (Galatians 5:13,16-21).
We must crucify all such evil passions and desires. (Galatians 5:24; Romans 6:4-13).
We must live in the Way of Jesus, rejecting temptations to eat the bad “cat foods” of the Power of Money, the Power of Religion, and the Power of the Kingdoms of this World. (see my blog “Jesus Climbs the Temple Mount”.)
These bad “cat foods” hurt our lives and our civilization.
We must live in the Way of Jesus that grows the fruit of the Spirit of the LORD: love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23).
These fruit of the Spirit of the LORD are the expensive, healthy, good foods that God prescribes to heal us and our civilization.
QUESTIONS TO THINK ABOUT
When have you eaten food that is bad for you instead of food that is good for you?
When have you preferred the fruit of evil passions and desires instead of the fruit of living in the Way of Jesus?
