Overcoming Darkness

Holding Your Hand, Hearing Your Voice

When you are alone, lost and scared, remember that Jesus—the Good Shepherd—always says “I love you”. (Matthew 5:43-48). He spares no sacrifice to find you and carry you home, rejoicing. (Luke 15:3-6). By this miracle of love, Jesus comes to give you life—a life you will enjoy to the full. (John 10:10).

I witnessed the healing power of love in the Intensive Care Unit.

My Father had just arrived in the Intensive Care Unit. His life was in danger from congestive heart failure.

Monitors beeped and glowed. The story they told was scary.

My Mother took my Father’s hand and said, “I love you.”

All the readouts immediately improved. He lived for years after that.

All because my Mother took his hand and told him she loved him.

All because of the miracle of love.

One of the cruelest effects of this extremely contagious Virus is that those who love the sick person cannot come to their bedside. They cannot hold the person’s hand. They cannot tell the sick person: “I love you.”

The sick person is alone.

When you are alone, lost and scared, you will hear the voice of Jesus—the Good Shepherd (John 10:10,16). Jesus always says “I love you”. (Matthew 5:43-48).

When you are alone, lost and scared, Jesus will hold your hand. He will spare no sacrifice to find you and carry you home, rejoicing. (Luke 15:3-6).

By this miracle of love, Jesus comes to give you life—a life you will enjoy to the full. (John 10:10).
