When I heard today about a highly effective vaccine on its way to overcome COVID, I rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. (Matthew 2:10).

I thought of the message of hope from the Prophet Isaiah that we hear each Advent Season as we eagerly anticipate the arrival of Baby Jesus:

“There will be no more gloom for those who were in distress.

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light;

on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.” (Isaiah 9:1-2).

Of course, Isaiah wasn’t talking about a literal vaccine. He was talking about a figurative “vaccine”.

This “vaccine” that Isaiah foresaw was, and is, 100% effective.

Why?

Because this vaccine has been created by the LORD God himself!

How?

“[T]o us a child is born,

     to us a son is given. . . . .

And he will be called

    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

     Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)
