Spreading Light
Sabbath Resurrection
When Sabbaths are over, expect surprises! Expect good news!
“When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body.” (Mark 16:1).
They thought they knew what the work of their hands would be. And—like us—they worried if they were up to the task.
“Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, ‘Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?’” (Mark 16:2-3).
When Sabbaths are over, expect surprises! Expect good news!
The work of the women’s hands wasn’t to roll the stone away. God rolled the stone away.
The work of the women’s hands wasn’t to anoint the body of Jesus. The tomb of Jesus is empty.
He is risen! He is risen indeed!
The women needed to spread the good news!
And so do we.
