Visions of America

Racism Is America Gone Astray

It is not surprising that the United States strays from its ideals. Except for Jesus, all people have strayed from the Way of Jesus and fallen short of the glory of God. (Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:9-18,23; Hebrews 4:15; 1 John 1:8–2:2). Since nations and civilizations are composed of people, all nations and civilizations have likewise strayed and fallen short of the glory of God. The combined Power of Money, Power of Religion, and Power of the Kingdoms of the World leads people, nations and civilizations astray in countless ways, including racism.

Racism is America gone astray.

I use the name “America” differently than the name “United States”.

I use the name “America” for the ideal civilization that was first discovered in the hearts of Abraham, Moses and Jesus. This civilization is for ALL people.

It is not limited to those people who are citizens of the United States. Regardless of which nation you are a citizen of, you are an American if you:

   —-are like Abraham, blessing ALL peoples;

—are like Moses, challenging ALL pharaohs to let ALL people be free; and

—-are like Jesus, healing ALL hurting people, even if you have been taught to despise or hate them because of their ancestry, nationality or religion.

In contrast, I use the name “United States” to refer to the actual historical nation that has repeatedly and continuously strayed from the ideals of America.

The very idea of there being “races” is an invention of people, nations and civilizations to justify exploiting people.

We can see this pattern in the South. By perpetuating the idea that people descended from Africans are a different race, the South paved the way for slavery and Jim Crow.

This road to hell wasn’t paved with good intentions. This road to hell was paved with evil intentions!

The Power of Money increased as the number of slaves being exploited increased.

The Power of Religion increased as the number of whites increased whose hearts were hardened by religious teachings that justified slavery and Jim Crow.

The Power of the Kingdoms of the World increased as the slaveholders increased their political power.

Indeed, the slaveholders eventually rebelled against the United States—a nation founded on the principles that all people are created equal and that all people have unalienable rights to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Instead of remaining in the United States, the slaveholders created the Confederate States—a nation founded on the principles of white supremacy and black slavery.

The slaveholders wanted a nation of the slaveholders, by the slaveholders, and for the slaveholders.

The slaveholders were modern day pharaohs, yearning for a civilization of the pharaohs, by the pharaohs, and for the pharaohs.

Their vision of a confederacy of pharaohs was the exact opposite of the ideal America first discovered in the hearts of Abraham, Moses and Jesus.

In the Confederate States, no one would be blessed unless they were white.

No one would challenge these pharaohs to let their slaves be free.

No one would heal the hurts of enslaved people.

Praise be to God for destroying the Confederacy and its heritage of hatred.

Praise be to God for making the United States more like America.

Glory, glory hallelujah. His Truth is marching on!

What is the Truth that is marching on?

—-the Truth that we learn by following the Way of Jesus, fulfilling the ideals of the Law of Moses and the Prophets. (Matthew 5:17; 7:12).

—-the Truth that we learn by holding to the teachings of Jesus. (John 8:11-12).

—-the Truth that we learn by really being disciples of Jesus. (John 8:11-12).

—the Truth that will set us free. (John 8:12).

—the Truth about the Way we must live to enjoy Life to the full! (John 10:10; John 14:6).
