As I viewed the stunning results of the Midterm Elections of 2026, I thought of this verse:

Though the mountains be shaken

    and the hills be removed

yet my unfailing love for you shall not be shaken

     nor my covenant of peace be removed,

     says the LORD, who has compassion on you.

(Isaiah 54:10)

This verse speaks to us both about physical earthquakes and spiritual earthquakes, about physical earthquakes and political earthquakes.

As I write this blog, the final results of the 2026 Midterms have not yet been determined. Nevertheless, it is clear that a political earthquake has occurred. Texas and Kansas electing Democratic United States Senators! Even a few years ago, anyone who believed this could happen would have been laughed at.

But people aren’t laughing anymore.

In what can people put their faith in this topsy-turvy political landscape?

In Jesus!

He embodies the unfailing love of the LORD! The peace of the LORD! The compassion of the LORD!

Praise the LORD!

Truly the joy of the LORD will be our strength amidst physical earthquakes, spiritual earthquakes, and political earthquakes. (Nehemiah 8:10).
