Waiting for Software To Load: Protecting From “Bugs”

Fully loading software is essential to protect against “bugs”. The Apostle Paul listed the kind of “software” that we need in our lives to protect us from “bugs”. We need to “put on the full armor of God” such as the belt of truth and the breastplate of righteousness to make us “strong in the Lord and in his mighty power” (Ephesians 6:10-17).

Whenever our grandson comes to our house, it’s not long before he turns on his iPad to watch YouTube and play games.

We get exasperated waiting for his iPad to load its software.

But fully loading software is essential to protect against “bugs”.

The Apostle Paul listed the kind of “software” that we need in our lives to protect us from “bugs”.

What is the purpose of this “armor”, this “software”?

To make us “strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” (Ephesians 6:10).

As Paul wrote:

[P]ut on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. (Ephesians 6:13).

What is this “armor of God” that we must put on? What is this “software” that we must upload?

The “belt of truth buckled around your waist” (Ephesians 6:14).

The “breastplate of righteousness”. (Ephesians 6:14).

“[F]eet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.” (Ephesians 6:15).

“[T]he shield of faith.” (Ephesians 6:16).

“[T]he helmet of salvation” (Ephesians 6:17).

“[T]he sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” (Ephesians 6:17).

We need all these kinds of armor—all these kinds of “software”—because we will be attacked by all kinds of evil.

As Paul explained:

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12).

For we struggle against the Power of Money, the Power of Religion, and the Power of the Kingdoms of this World.

And we can only stand against these powers and overcome these powers by being strong in the Lord and in his mighty power! (Ephesians 6:10).
